Victor Bongo is a talented African-Canadian chef who gained his reputation by challenging culinary traditions and incorporating ethnic flavours into his dishes. His first book, The Excellence of Chef Victor Bongo, was published in 2009. Chef Bongo is a member of the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFC) and the World Association of Chefs’ Societies.
Chef Bongo launched his culinary career in Vancouver kitchens, including the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel, the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver, Bacchus Restaurant in the Wedgewood Hotel and aboard Holland America Cruise Lines. A milestone came with his selection as Executive Chef at The Raven Hotel in Haines Junction,Yukon; under his leadership, the restaurant has been rated as one of the best by Where to Eat in Canada (Oberon Press).
